Chapter 4

Verse 1

In todays world we plain and keep secrets at work as if we are at war. All just to get ahead of the other. People cheat on each other, steal ideas and so forth to get more. We fight at work in court rooms and on the highways just to get ahead of the other person. Just to mention a few. And it all boils down to "LUST" Lust of money, Power, and Position just to list a few.

Verse 2

We want and have nothing. We destroy our selves, our families (by working to many hours and neglecting our families.) our friendships, and still get nowhere. We do all we can for what we call the finer things in life. But still never quite get there. Because we don’t ask God for guidance.

Verse 3

Some times out of desperation we ask God for things or help. But in our hearts we are asking for our on lusts not for others or to help us get a closer walk with God.

Verse 4

We as christains have to walk and live in the world. But we do not have to be like the world. We do not have to live like, talk like, act like, or do as the world does. We should not try and befriend the world. You can not walk rightously with God and be a friend of the world. The world hated Jesus and they will do us no different.

Verse 5-6

Now we are going to lust after the things of this world. It is in our nature but we don’t have to surcome to this and when we do on the occasion. Then we must humble ourselves before God in prayer and beg forgivness and truly repent. Remember you can not fool God because he looks on the heart not on our faces as we do.

Verse 7-9

Repent, Humble yourselves, Study his Holy Word and live every moment for God. Keep yourself in check and the Holy Spirit will lead you and convict you when you are wrong. Guide you on the right path. Through prayer we can make the devil flee from us. If you don’t have a personal relationship with God then now is the time! Call upon him and confess your sins to him and ask for his forgiveness.

Verse 10

Humble yourself in the sight of the Lord. This is very important. As we are always in the sight of the Lord. We when we pray we are really in the sight of the Lord. So we should always be humble when we are praying. His lifting us up is a blessing. And for God almighty to care so much for just one. His lifting is so much more than we can think or imagine.

Verses 11 – 12

We are not to talk evil of one another. Because to talk that way means we have judged the one we are talking evil of. God is the only one that is Just to judge anyone. We do not know all the things about anyone. Even ourselves because we forget. God however does not forget even the smallest detail and can weigh all these matters for better than any of us. So the question Who are we to judge another?

Verses 13 – 15

We should be careful how we say things. We don’t know when the Lord shall come back or when we shall die. We don’t even know what tomorrow will bring. So we need to get into the habit of saying if the Lord is willing we will live and do this or that.

Verse 16

Boasting is evil. Because God has given you all that you have and we should be trying to share and help others with what we have. You may have money or the gift of teaching or carpentry etc… What ever gift God has given you then you should be sharing with those that do not have and are in need of your gift. The Lord said LOVE ONE ANOTHER. You love your children, brothers and sisters. And you help them as they need it. Then if you are a child of GOD you love your brothers and sister in Christ. Do the same for them.

Verse 17

For such a small verse this one carries a lot of information. I have been asked is it a sin to do this or that and my answer almost always comes back to this verse. If you know how to do good and we all do. Then we nothing at all then it is SIN. Study this little verse and put into your on thoughts and see if it convicts you. Truly just standing by and not helping is a SIN.
